Top 5 Christmas Romantic Comedies

Here comes Christmas… The most magical and romantic time of the year, when love is all around us and we are filled with joy and happiness. The thing about Christmas is that even if you are single or feeling a bit lonely around the holidays, your heart craves for romantic stories and happy endings. Or is it just me? Anyway, watching Christmas romantic comedies is a great way to spend time with your loved ones, friends or simply enjoy some quality ‘me time’ with a glass of wine.

5. The Princess Switch (2018)
Who doesn’t like a good old-fashioned Cinderella fairy tale about a simple girl and Prince Charming? Or a story about a rich princess who just wants to be ‘normal’ and be loved for her inner beauty? If you do, this movie is for you! The story may seem predicable and simple, however, I think that the beauty of it. Love, friendship, generosity, and, of course, Christmas miracles… I believe this movie with some hot chocolate is perfect for a cold winter evening.

4. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
Bridget Jones’s Diary is a unique movie about a clumsy chubby funny woman in her thirties, who tries to find ‘the one’ and improve herself. Bridget starts with New Year Resolutions, which, I think, single girls can borrow ideas from:
I Will Not: Waste money on exotic underwear since pointless as have no boyfriend; Fall for any of the following: alcoholics, workaholics, commitment phobics, chauvinists, freeloaders, perverts; Have crushes on men, but instead form relationships based on mature assessment of character.
This is a hilarious British romantic comedy, which will leave a great ‘aftertaste’ of hope and warmth in your hearts.

3. New Year’s Eve (2011)
This movie focuses on several story lines at once, showing the New Year’s adventures of several people in New York. Each story is filled with love, kindness and holiday spirit. Not to mention the great cast of the movie, here we have Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Lea Michele, Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel, and Jon Bon Jovi… This movie is definitely ‘a must’ in Christmas to do list.

2. While You Were Sleeping (1995)
This movie deserves to be called ‘classics of Christmas’. Young and gorgeous Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman show the real chemistry and Christmas sparkles. This is a story about Lucy (Sandra Bullock), who has developed a crush on a rich guy she had never talked to. One day she saves his life, however, he gets into a coma. One thing leads to another, and she ends up telling his family that she is his fiancée. After spending Christmas with her ‘new’ family and getting to know poor guy’s brother (Bill Pullman), things change for all of them…

1.     Love Actually (2003)
Love Actually, or in other words, “the ultimate romantic comedy,” is undeniably one of the most romantic movies of our time. This movie has it all: the greatest cast (Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Martin Freeman, Keira Knightly, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman and many others), heartbreaking stories, high quality humor, passionate love and Christmas magic….

I hope these romantic movies will create positive loving atmosphere and lift your Christmas mood!

 Sincerely yours, Kat Raine
